For future guests
Before you take the mic.
Recording, preparation, clips, privacy, and what happens after our conversation.
What do I get from being a guest?
Around an hour to go beyond the pitch: what you are building, the work behind it, and the experiences and personality that make it yours. We turn that conversation into a professionally produced podcast episode and short clips, with a dedicated page about you and your project. One visit gives you media coverage and a library of professional content to share with your audience, customers, community, and future collaborators.
Can my team make its own clips?
Yes. Alongside the short moments we clip from the conversation, you and your marketing team are welcome to create and share your own clips from the published episode. Keep putting the conversation to work long after it goes live.
How does an episode help people discover my work?
Your YouTube interview and dedicated episode page connect your name, company, and ideas in one public story. We structure the page with a clear guest biography, project context, and useful links so people, search engines, and AI search tools have more context about your work. It gives you another place to be discovered and a substantial interview to point people to.
How much time should I set aside?
The recording usually runs 45 to 90 minutes. We recommend setting aside about an hour and a half from the moment you arrive at the studio.
What should I prepare?
Send us a little more about yourself and your project ahead of time, along with links and the topics you would love to discuss. Francisk researches every guest, and that extra context helps make the conversation more personal and useful. If you have a great demo, bring it. Before we start recording, we sit down and talk through the direction of the conversation together. For examples and planning tips, read our San Francisco podcast guest guide.
Does it cost to participate?
Participation is currently free.
Where do you record?
We usually record at our studio at 855 Folsom Street, San Francisco. In rare cases, we can arrange a recording at another location. Mention it when you suggest a guest so we can discuss what is possible.
Will I review the episode before it is published?
Yes. Once the edit is ready, we share it with you for review and agree on the episode before it goes live. We take your privacy seriously, especially when a conversation touches on sensitive business details, confidential information, or something you would rather keep private. If you want a moment removed, we are happy to cut it before publication. We want you to feel comfortable with the story you share.
How soon will my episode be published?
We usually publish in the order conversations were recorded, roughly a couple of weeks after filming.
Can you publish around a launch or another important date?
Yes, we can prioritize time-sensitive conversations for a product launch, fundraising announcement, podcast tour, or YC Demo Day. Tell us about your date in advance. By arrangement, express publication is possible within five days after recording.
How do I suggest myself or someone else?
Tell us who you are, what you are working on, and why now is a good time for the conversation. Self-nominations are welcome. Use our guest suggestion page to share the story and any important dates.
